The legendary American hip-hop duo Atmosphere returns to Sofia on May 7, 2026 with the Phere & Loathing: The Unamerican Tour – a concert that brings stories of scars, survival and music that grows with its audience. The event will take place at Sofia Live Club, at the invitation of Sofia Live Festival.
For more than two decades, Atmosphere has been following their own, independent path with impressive consistency and productivity. The duo from Minneapolis has over twenty studio albums, EPs and collaborative projects behind them, building a legacy in which honesty, vulnerability and human candor are placed at the center of the music. Over the years, Atmosphere has constantly evolved, without losing touch with their roots and with the audience that grows with their songs.
Their work tells the story of doubts and internal conflicts, of love and friendship, of burnout, mistakes and the effort to move forward. Slug has established himself as one of the strongest storytellers in independent hip-hop, with personal, impactful lyrics that leave a lasting mark while paying tribute to the artists and writers who shaped his path. Ant builds the sonic environment around these stories, drawing inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae and the golden age of hip-hop, creating his own, recognizable signature and rhythmic backbone for songs about life, tension and fall.
Atmosphere are a kind of musical guide, with each new album they offer a new journey that accompanies generations of listeners through the different stages of life.
The concert on May 7 is part of an extremely limited format and represents a rare opportunity for fans to meet Atmosphere in an intimate club environment. This is an event that goes beyond the standard concert format and turns the evening into a special meeting between artists and audience, without distance, without filter and without repetition.
Their Sofia visit will feature the special participation of Sage Francis and ZooDeVille, and the tour is a strong reminder of what independent hip-hop sounds like when it still has meaning, position and depth.
Sage Francis, founder and CEO of Strange Famous Records, is among the most influential and recognizable lyricists in independent hip-hop. He established himself in the early 2000s with victories in prestigious MC battles and with the album Personal Journals, which introduced a poetic and socially engaged language to the genre. And today, Sage Francis remains a key voice on the scene, known for his directness, depth and uncompromising position.
Atmosphere’s return comes after their extremely emotional first visit to Bulgaria in 2024, when they headlined the Sofia Live Festival. Then Sean “Slug” Daly and Anthony “Ant” Davis closed the last day of the festival with an explosive set, extended until the last possible minute for the exalted audience. Sofia was one of only two European stops on their tour, alongside Amsterdam, a moment that turned the first meeting with the Bulgarian audience into a memorable experience for both parties.
On May 7, 2026, Atmosphere returns to continue this honest and personal conversation through music, the kind that only they know how to lead.
Tickets for the event can be found on www.sofialivefest.com and the Eventim network and partner box offices.
