After their impressive concert in Sofia in 2024, Japanese pioneers of jazz club and crossover sound Kyoto Jazz Massive return to SOFIA LIVE CLUB on November 29, 2026 at the invitation of Sofia Live Festival. This time, the project arrives with an even larger concert format – Kyoto Jazz Massive with Vanessa Freeman & Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra – a special show that brings together jazz, house, broken beat, soul and an unstoppable dance groove on one stage.
Created by brothers Shuya and Yoshihiro Okino and introduced to the world by the legendary Gilles Peterson, Kyoto Jazz Massive has remained one of the most influential formations in the development of the Japanese club scene and the global crossover sound for more than three decades. Since their debut releases in the 1990s, the project has been building its own musical language, a free space between jazz, house, funk, electronica and broken beat culture.
After years of international collaborations, remixes and solo projects, in 2022 Kyoto Jazz Massive returned with the long-awaited album Message From A New Dawn, a modern and deeply grooving record that unites house, afrobeat, soul and jazz on the project’s characteristic cinematic scale.
At the center of the new concert incarnation is Vanessa Freeman – a long-standing voice in the history of Kyoto Jazz Massive and an artist with an exceptional presence, who gives additional depth and emotional charge to the music. Together with Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra (EOANDO), a concert formation of musicians based in Paris, the project unfolds its most lively, dynamic and orchestrated version yet.
Recent years have brought sold-out concerts at New Morning in Paris, Jazz Café in London and appearances at festivals such as Southport Weekender and We Out Here, while Kyoto Jazz Massive’s anniversary program continues with new material and special concert dates across Europe.
On November 29, Sofia Live Club will once again become a place where jazz meets the dance floor, and the concert the club experience. An evening for people who love music without genre boundaries.
A limited number of Early Bird tickets priced at €40 are available only at www.sofialivefest.com, and on July 13, tickets will go on sale at the regular price of €45 in the Eventim network and partner box offices.
