After a memorable, sold-out tour of Bulgaria in 2025, psychedelic sensation Altın Gün returns to Sofia for a new concert on November 26, 2026 at SOFIA LIVE CLUB, at the invitation of Sofia Live Festival.
In recent years, Altın Gün have established themselves as one of the most exciting phenomena on the contemporary world stage. The Amsterdam-based band combines psychedelic rock, funk, disco, synth pop and traditional Anatolian music into a distinctive sound that is both nostalgic and surprisingly current. Grammy-nominated and regular guests at festivals such as Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lowlands and Glastonbury, they have become one of the brightest ambassadors of modern psychedelic music.
The concert in Sofia will also present their latest album Garip – the band’s fifth studio recording and the most eclectic project of their career to date. For the first time, Altın Gün dedicate an entire album to the work of the legendary Turkish folk singer, composer and performer Neşet Ertaş, whose songs about love, longing, loneliness and human destiny have left a deep mark on Turkish culture.
Instead of treating this repertoire as a museum piece, Altın Gün breathe new life into it. In Garip, they intertwine traditional Anatolian melodies with layers of psychedelic guitars, analog synthesizers and pulsating funk rhythms. Some of the compositions are enriched with string arrangements that refer to Egyptian popular music, Bollywood film soundtracks and Turkish arabesque, and the influence of French and Italian musical aesthetics is clearly felt in them.
“This is our most eclectic album yet,” says bassist and founding member Jasper Verhulst. “We wanted to do something different. Less overtly psychedelic, less pop, and more driven by feel and atmosphere.”
At the center of the new material is vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Erdinç Ecevit, whose personal connection to Neşet Ertaş’s songs lends the project additional emotional depth. Having grown up with the legendary musician’s recordings, he transforms these compositions into a bridge between generations, cultures, and musical traditions.
Live, Altın Gün are a real force, their shows moving from hypnotic psychedelic passages to unstoppable dance grooves, and the audience invariably finds themselves drawn into a musical journey without geographical or genre boundaries.
Their return to Sofia promises just that – an evening where Anatolian folklore, psychedelic rock and contemporary club energy will meet in one of the most magnetic live shows on the European stage.
