One of the most beloved and recognizable bands on the Balkan alternative scene, Foltin, will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special concert in Sofia on October 17, 2026 at SOFIA LIVE CLUB, as part of the Sofia Live Fest presents series.
Three decades after its formation, Foltin continues to be one of the most original and elusive bands in the region – a band that naturally moves between alternative music, theatricality, jazz, ethno influences, improvisation and stage performance, without ever losing its identity. But the “30 Years Foltin” anniversary is not just a review, but a living continuation of a story that remains relevant, curious and open to new artistic directions today.
Over the years, Foltin have built a particularly strong connection with the Bulgarian audience through dozens of concerts, festival appearances and shared musical experiences. This connection goes far beyond the usual relationship between artist and audience. The band’s concerts in Bulgaria have always been a space for closeness, emotional exchange and a sense of community.
It is no coincidence that the concert material for FOLTIN LIVE was recorded in Plovdiv – a double vinyl record that captured the band in its most natural environment, namely the stage. Recorded in analog, the album documents the specific energy between Foltin and the Bulgarian audience and remains a testament to their long-standing concert history in our country.
The anniversary program will bring together compositions from different periods of the band’s development. Musicians who have been part of Foltin over the years will also be included. The result is a retrospective, but lively and dynamic format that looks not back with nostalgia, but forward to new encounters and new interpretations. In parallel with the concerts, the band is also preparing a series of special editions and multimedia projects, including a reissue of the album MOMOMA on vinyl, a special RE-COMPOSED edition with interpretations by Balkan musicians, a traveling photo exhibition “Foltin Through the Years”, a new online archive and anniversary merch created in collaboration with young artists and designers.
After 30 years, Foltin continue to prove that their music naturally crosses borders, generations and cultural contexts. And the concert in Sofia will be another confirmation of this long-standing and lively connection with the Bulgarian audience.
An evening dedicated to musical freedom, stage energy and a story that continues to develop.
